Stupid Things People Say About Gays: Debauchery at Gay Pride Parades

5 July 2009 8 Comments Author: jaysays

Stupid Things People Say About GaysIt’s commonly said by those that don’t support equality for all that Gay Pride Parades are nothing but an in-your-face sexual display of inappropriate conduct.  In fact, many people use the word “debauchery” when referring to a gay pride parade and often compare the activities taking place at Pride Parades to that of the wholesome Thanksgiving Parades.

Do you mean to say that as soon as we give gays equal rights, the debauchery in pride parades will go away? – thinkatheist.com member

At some parades, right-wing conservatives have displayed signs reading “God despises debauchery” and “Animal parade.”

Such accusations are not only unfair, but are not based on the full reality of the parade.  Taking a few images from the internet of Gay Pride Parades and declaring those images as representative of the entire celebration, would be similar to watching a “Girls Behaving Badly” video of Mardi Gras and declaring that Mardi Gras is nothing more than a tit showing contest.

Of course, that which is most photographed is generally the more absurd.  In this post on “Stupid Things People Say About Gays,” I find myself unable to resist an effort at a touch of satire to completely support the theory that Gay Pride Parades are solely about sex and debauchery.

For example, at San Antonio’s “Pride Bigger than Texas” event held on July 4, 2009, one parade participant dressed in Roman garb was actually engaging in bare backing in full view of all parade attendees, including children:

There were also other incidents that were completely inappropriate.  In another example, a nearly naked man lead a group of dancers:

bongo

Another repugnant display was set up by the Metropolitan Community Church.  The Church apparently thought it would not damage our children to see the cross surrounded by homosexual symbolism, the rainbow colors:

MCC

Our governmental officials even got in on the blasphemy and sin as Gay Pride San Antonio was Grand Marshaled by Mayor Julian Castro and several politicians proudly and happily waved at the hundreds of people gathered to view the parade including Judge Ron Rangol, Judge Barbara Hanson Nellermoe, Judge Monica Guerriero Texas State Senator, Leticia Van De Putt [pictured]:

As if to rub their homosexuality into our face even more, one group of sinners dared to demand they be “equal” in the eyes of the law to their heterosexual rulers:

equality

But perhaps the worst of it, the most disgusting thing to be seen, was something that we could not bring ourselves to photograph.  A gay man brought his three year old child to a parade.  The young boy was actually blowing bubbles, something no three-year old boy should be allowed to do, let alone encouraged to do.

So, it seems to be true.  Gay Pride Parades are, indeed, a grotesque display of sinful sexuality, unlike the hetero-normalized Mardi Gras.  All participants are obviously only concerned with displaying their bare bodies to onlookers in order to satisfy their sexual desires.

Do you mean to say that as soon as we give gays equal rights, the debauchery in pride parades will go away?

Oh my goodness! You mean you actually allowed yourself to enjoy such horrible-ness? There is even photographic evidence of this ? You said a small child was there – having fun? Oh Noooooooo!

(my own feeble attempt at satire)

Let those foolish anti-LGBT-rights heteros just eat cake ! ! That is – the cake which we will be serving at our future weddings and the cake at our future equal rights parties – when we are granted all those rights ! ! ! : )

The Morality crowd would have more creditability if they would clean up some of the bad behavior at sporting events. There certainly is plenty of obscene and inappropriate displays there that make gay pride look like Disneyland. Below are just a few links that make my point. If gay events are going to be judged by a few outrageous examples then lets compare..

Oh, behave! Drunkenness, cursing, and rudeness have ruined sporting events. Some fans have had enough; they say it's time to stand up and cheer for public civility.

BOSTON — Nostalgia and happy memories will suffuse Fenway Park today as the "Impossible Dream" team of 1967 is saluted at the Red Sox home opener. If all goes well on the field, most of the Fenway crowd will leave with good memories of today's game, too. But inevitably there will be some disheartened spectators who think back instead on that loud, cursing drunk in the seat behind them, or that pinhead in front who didn't understand the difference between rooting and ranting. Crude fan behavior has become an increasingly prominent feature feature of the contemporary sports experience, and it doesn't matter whether you're talking about baseball, football, basketball, soccer, or hockey.

    Disappointing Fan Behavior

I don’t understand why some fans feel the need to be disrespectful at sporting events? Like many people, I was very disappointed and upset by the behavior of some of the Dallas Mavericks’ fans during their playoff series against the Denver Nuggets. First, they poured beer on Kenyon Martin’s mother; then poured beer on/cursed at Carmelo Anthony’s fiancée Lala Vasquez; and then throw ice at and disrespect the Nuggets’ GM. That behavior is unacceptable!
