Bryan Fischer, the host of the American [Heterosexual Only] Family Association’s [AFA] radio show, Focal Point, recently declared on an AFA blog post that GLSEN was to blame for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender suicides. His theory, it seems, is that you can eliminate the high incidents of suicide in LGBT kids by eliminating LGBT kids.
The wedding between Mark Reed-Walkup, a provisional Board Member of the LGBT equality organization, GetEQUAL, and the “love of his life,” Dante Walkup, wasn’t the first wedding ceremony performed in Texas, but it was the first same-sex wedding performed on Texas’ soil which will have legal recognition.
Although the Libertarian party has often pressed Congress on the repeal of the military’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy, a recent internal email from one of the party’s Board Members, Norm Olsen of Region 4, argues against the repeal, stating that, “The heterosexual soldier has a right to be free from unwanted sexual advances.”
I do love a good joke. For example:
“A dentist ran out of anesthetic just before the last extraction for the day was scheduled.
He gave the nurse a very large needle, instructing her to jab it hard into the patient’s butt when the signal was given, so it would take his attention away from the tooth extraction.
It all happened in an instant…”
Texas Governor Rick Perry, known widely for his want of Texas to secede from the United States, is on the campaign trial. In 2006, Perry successfully used fear mongering about “gay marriage” as a tactic to become governor… again. Perry has a long history of anti-gay bigotry, including being a member of the staunchly anti-equality, pro-imprison gays, Texas Republican Party
The day after Judge Walker released his decision in the Perry v. Schwarzenegger case declaring bans on same-sex marriage unconstitutional under the Due Process and Equal Protection clauses of the constitution, right-wingers around the country began screaming about the will of the people and majority rule (apparently forgetting that their own messiah, George W. Bush, was elected by the Supreme Court of the United States, not the majority of the people).
In a message published today to Target leaders, Target President and CEO Gregg Steinhafel, apologized for the contribution to MNForward, which supports candidates who maintain a very anti-LGBT platform.
Judge Walker deemed Prop 8 Unconstitutional based upon both the Equal Protection and Due Process clauses of the U.S. Constitution. Here’s the full text of the 136 page decision.
John Cornyn, the junior Senator from Texas with a staunchly anti-gay voting record, has announced that he will attend a fundraiser held by the Log Cabin Republicans, whose mission is to support”fairness, freedom, and equality for gay and lesbian Americans.” The Senator is in charge of getting Republicans elected to the U.S. Senate.
