Inauguration Declares Equality for All – Except Gays

My hope for enjoying the inauguration as an American and citizen of the world was lost when, openly gay Bishop Gene Robinson’s invocation was not aired due to a “misunderstanding” between HBO and the Obama administration. The Obama inauguration committee apparently “mistakenly” advised HBO (the network with exclusive broadcast rights) that this very politically charged invocation by Robinson which was seen by many as Obama’s effort to include the gay community, was part of the pre-show and should not air.

Prejudice Study Reveals Gays Disliked the Most Out of Minority Groups

A study by the British Psychological Society has revealed that extreme prejudices are highest against gay men, seconded by lesbians, while some prejudices can be found in 41% of people polled against lesbians and 35% against gay men.

$44 Million Dollar “Right of Conscience” Regulation Allows Doctors to Reject Gay Patients

Another [potential] oversight of lawmakers and the Bush administration occurred December 26th when Bush signed the Right of Conscience Bill into law. The Bill, aimed at allowing doctors to refuse abortions due to moral issues, will also allow doctors to refuse to treat gay patients should they morally object on moral grounds.

Gay Hater Rick Warren Chosen to Give Invocation at Inauguration

Many people in the LGBT Community have expressed their outrage over the choice of Rick Warren to give the invocation at the inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama. Mr. Warren, being a conservative pastor at Saddleback Church, has expressed opinions against abortion rights, same-sex marriage and stem cell research. Because of his conservative viewpoint and exclusionary attitude toward non-heterosexuals, LGBT activists have shown deep outrage over his selection.

Ancestry.com Evolves with the Definition of Family

Murmurs of an ancestry.com boycott have been breezing through the LGBT blogosphere and community since late last week when an ancestry.com user, James Helms, attempted to add his same-sex partner, Devon, to his family tree using the online version of ancestry.com’s Family Tree Maker.
