Here we go again – as discussed on Joe. My. God, South Carolina’s anti-gay Lt. Governor Andre Bauer has been outed as a gay. While I often feel a certain level of vindication when anti-gay politicians are outed, and even give a little squeal of joy seeps out occasionally, the fact remains that it sets a dangerous precedent. Essentially, by outing these people, we aren’t saying that “gay is ok” but instead saying that the person is “just as immoral as we are.”
Tonight, I was a participant in Sisters Talk Radio Shows’ “Is it Ever O.K. to Out a Closet Politician.” Genia Stephens, the hostess of Sisters Talk Radio, founder of gaywallet.com and blogger extraordinaire, along with Spaz and Chistophersays joined in discussions. Special thanks to Genia for opening this conversation and allowing me to participate.
From the show page:
“The new film Outrage discusses closeted gay politicians who vote against any law(s) that would provide equality to members of the LGBTQ community. Some of these politicians even encourage the passing of anti-gay laws.
